Summary: The others do not understand, but she does. She understands what the Goddess intended, at least part of it, and she intends to find out all of it.

She is aware of the rumors on the island. She knows very well what they say, though few have had the boldness to tell her to her face. They think she has lost her mind. They think she has become besotted with the man and is willing to throw away everything she has ever known and loved, everyone and their beliefs.

They could not be further from the truth. In their intolerance of humanity, in their disdain for men and refusal to become involved, they are the ones turning their prideful backs on what they have always believed. Steve Trevor's people need help. They have been wronged. There is murder and death on both sides, and they need a third party, an indifferent party, to help right wrongs on both sides. To not help a man so full of honor cries out against everything in which she has been taught to believe. It cries out against everything the Amazons believe.

But they do not know Steve like she does, nor are they willing to learn. They refuse to see his honor. Steve is right: Many of them do not see pass his genitals, and those who do are so weary of the wars she never knew that they do not wish to become involved in any that do not concern them. Diana can understand their plight. She comprehends her mother's way of thinking. But what none of them are willing to accept is that Steve Trevor came to them not by any chance landing but by being guided by the Goddess.

The Goddess led him here and gave him to them, to her. Diana knows a blessing when she sees one, and no matter what her people cry out about her, no matter who she thinks she is doing this out of spite or foolish or that she has become atavistic in wanting to turn her back on all they have taught her, Diana knows the truth. Steve Trevor has come to them for a reason, and he is a blessing.

He, too, is a prideful man. Some of his boasts remind her of a young lion. Yet he is honorable too. He is not wicked like the men of whom Diana has always heard spoken. He is a good person, and he needs her help.

There is also something about him that stirs something deep within her, something she does not understand, something of which even the Elders refuse to speak, something that seems, at times, as natural as breathing yet at other times as unnatural as the guns and cannons of which he speaks. Regardless, Steve Trevor needs her. His people need her, and she will help. As the Goddess intended, she will help, and if something more comes of it?

Diana smiles as she watches the moonlight shine on Steve's blonde head. If something more comes of it, perhaps, one day, they will have their own legends to tell their own children. Even a Princess can dream.

Very nice. Of course she must follow where the Goddess leads.
