As far as imbroglios go, Ross can't imagine one that could be more embarrassing or tricky to handle than the one he's found himself in.
It's rough enough to have Carol leave him. But to leave him for another woman takes things from garden-variety humiliation to something entirely more bruising to the ego. Ross knows that it can't have been that he wasn't enough man for her; evidently, the opposite is true: He was too much man for her tastes.
And, now that their marriage is over, Carol is pregnant. With his child.
