"It just does not feel right," Sheldon remarked, obviously pouting.

"Of course, it doesn't," Amy agreed. "They're your best friends, and they're both miserable right now."

"They should not be fighting," Sheldon stated decisively. "I should have made that a caveat upon their first decision to make coitus together."

"You can't make rules like that! And some," Amy added forlornly, thinking of her own parents, "would argue that as long as they care enough to fight, their marriage at least stands a chance."

"That's a silly thing to say!" Sheldon declared. "How is fighting going to help their marriage?"

"Because at least they have not given up," Amy tried to explained, thinking of her dear, bedraggled father.

"One of them should give up. That way, at least they would be talking."

"Oh, they'll talk," Amy told him. "They'll talk. They'll yell. They'll scream. They'll probably even cuss at each other."

Sheldon made a face. "Well, I'm glad we don't do any of those silly things." He wrapped an arm around his wife and, to her surprise, brought her closer. He really must be quite upset and perhaps even lonely if he was trying to snuggle with her! Nonetheless she nestled into his side and laid her head on his shoulder.

Again, she thought of her parents, and of Leonard and Penny. She wasn't quite sure what they were arguing about this time, but she knew they'd came through. They'd make up eventually; they loved each other too much not to. The same could not be said for her parents, but they were still together even after all this time. She wondered what the future held for herself and Sheldon. They did argue occasionally, and there were a great many more things he said and did that she would like to protest but didn't. She only protested the important stuff, because much like her father's fragile ego, Sheldon could not endure too much arguing. He just didn't understand it. But unlike her father, she was not silent because she was afraid of his reaction. Life was just too short, and their time together too precious, to argue over trivial matters.

"Amy?"

"Yes, Sheldon?"

"I know I make you angry sometimes."

"Everybody makes their spouses angry sometimes, Sheldon. It's part of being married."

"Okay, but -- " He hesitated.

"Yes?"

"Please don't ever scream at me like Penny does to Leonard sometimes. She sounds too angry." His despair was clear on his handsome face. "And I am not at all certain that that is simply her female hormones speaking. I know you girls have trouble with your hormones -- "

"Sheldon," she cut in warningly.

"Just please don't ever yell at me like that? Or worse yet, please do not ever stop talking to me."

Her heart finished melting at his expression. "I promise I'll never shut you out," she vowed, turning, wrapping her arms around him, and holding him instead. Beginning to rock him, she dared to venture, "I love you."

"I love you too."

I don't like fighting either, it causes me a lot of anxiety. Probably due to trauma from childhood. I absolutely can't deal with it. Only in fanfic. I love a good fight in fanfic. ;)
