Summary: He's probably crushed at her betrayal.
Lila regards Rex as he stands over her, with a pained look on his face. Well, that's understandable enough. He's probably crushed at her betrayal.
Of course, it might also have something to do with the bullet wounds in his gut.
She can almost smell the unspoken excoriations on his dying breaths. That, and the blood that pours out of him as he slumps to the floor. They mingle in a heady mixture; and Lila begins to smile. This is more fun than she'd expected it'd be.
"I know what you're thinking," she purrs to him, drowning out his desperate gasps for just a bit more oxygen. "The law will catch up with me. I'll never get away with shooting you. I'll be on trial in a matter of weeks, perhaps months."
Lila leans in close, stroking his hair. Rex winces; he must be near the end, now. Well, he might as well go out with just a little more misery on his head; she's got nothing to lose by it.
"Let me tell you one thing, off the record," she whispers. "It'll be your funeral before it's mine, and I'll gladly dance on your grave before they catch me."
