It was annual physical time again. Owen turned into a vampire with the singular purpose of extracting blood from his unwilling victims, and the others got inventive at finding ways to dodge him. Jack always stepped in eventually and escorted each of them to their appointment personally.
They might have been more willing if Owen had a better bedside manner.
“Well, teaboy, good news and bad news. Your ulcer has healed.”
After Ianto got caught eschewing his medicine, he’d had no choice but to obey doctor’s orders, and the meds had done their job. He was even putting on weight again. Jack seemed to enjoy it, which was a relief, to be honest.
“And the bad?”
“You have pernicious anemia.”
“Last year you accused my ulcer of being lazy, now you’re saying my anemia is destroying me slowly.”
“It’s probably a result of the ulcer,” Owen said, ignoring Ianto’s snarky comments.
“So, if it’s moving slowly, where is it going?” Ianto continued undaunted. “And how—” his words cut off with an undignified squawk as the medic jabbed a needle none too gently into his arm.
“Shot of B-12 should take care of it,” Owen told him with a smirk.
