Summary: Sophia reflects on what her nights have become.
What’s the point of eternity when nights blur together into a meaningless sequence of rousing and falling back into slumber?
Those feelings which the night once evoked have dulled—a once sharp knife that lost its edge with each new cut, the momentary ecstasy of that first incision now a distant memory she cannot recreate.
Sophia could sharpen it again, she knows, but how?
The Hunt brings back that shine, sometimes. Watching her prey struggle with that deep, instinctual desire to live is almost enough to impart on herself that same yearning—but once the game is over, and she's taken what she wanted, that pervasive feeling of ennui falls upon her again.
What to do…
Her master is distracted by his passions once again, lucky him. She has heard, however, that he’s gotten himself a new pet project. She could meet him, perhaps? Maybe she’ll see in him the spark which inspired Vasa in the first place.
And if she doesn’t? Well, she could always help refine her new little brother into something worthy of their master.
Perhaps this will even show them that there’s no need for ascension, not when they’re already divine beings, waiting to be unleashed.
