apachefirecat, who commented on a post I did for the Halfamoon Challenge, suggesting I expand on a scene like this.
There was a door on the Tardis that hadn't been there before. That wasn't necessarily a weird occurrence, but the Doctor hadn't seen Rose in a few hours and decided an investigation was warranted.
He approached cautiously and stopped just inches away from the innocent-looking appendage. Touched it with an index finger. It wasn't hot, pulsing, or anything else that would have raised alarm bells. He carefully stuck out his tongue and touched it to the wood. It looked like wood, anyway, but it didn't taste like much of anything.
Now, you may be wondering why the Doctor never bothered to announce himself first or, perhaps, knock. Well, it simply never occurred to him. This was his Tardis, and the door didn't lead to anyone's bedroom. Besides, he was laser-focused on the mystery of the door and what it led to, and a bit absent-minded towards anything else.
So, he turned the knob and walked in… directly into the sublime vision of a naked Rose Tyler reclining in a huge claw foot tub filled to overflowing with pink bubbles.
Two things happened simultaneously. Rose shrieked, and the Doctor saw her dive beneath the water. That was one thing, the other was that his brain temporarily stopped working, taking with it his motor skills.
"Oi, do you mind?! I'm having a soak, here!" Rose eventually poked her head out enough to complain.
The Doctor stumbled backward, hands behind him groping for the door. "Oh, right, I uh, yes, of course…" he stammered. You might now be wondering at the fact that through all this, he never actually turned away. Perhaps a part of him wanted to map her body like a cartographer, but of course not, this was The Doctor, after all. He took nary a peek.
If that stretches credulity, well, that's best left between the Doctor and Rose.
"Unless you want to join me?" Rose's flirtatious voice queried.
Finally galvanized into action, the Doctor turned and fled through the door, slamming it behind him.
A few minutes later, the door was opened briefly, something splashed into the water, and the door slammed shut again. The bather now found herself sharing the bath with a yellow rubber duck.
Rose's delighted laughter rang out through the Tardis.
The Doctor smiled, pressed his lips to the door in the ghost of a kiss, then wandered off to find something to distract himself with.
