Title: Laconic
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (ACD)
Characters: Holmes & Watson
Rating: Gen
Length: 100
Notes: Retirement AU
Prompt: laconic
Summary: Watson meets a lad who 'don't speak.'
“Laconic fellow,” I observed.
“He don’t speak.”
When his mother’s back was turned, I offered the lad my pencil and note-book. He took them with alacrity and set about scribbling furiously. In the instant before his name was called, he thrust the items back to my care.
“What has you so amused?” asked Holmes when he appeared with his purchases.
“Look at this,” I said.
Holmes, too, had to laugh at the caricatures of the pair of us, me in my garden, Holmes among his bees.
“Talented fellow,” he pronounced.
“His mother says ‘he don’t speak.’”
“But these say volumes.”
