Title: Somewhere to Turn
Fandom: Equalizer (2021)
Author: Cat Moon
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: Robyn McCall
Summary: After making the decision to become the Equalizer, Robyn takes a moment to reflect.
Robyn McCall leaned back on the couch with a sigh, putting her feet on the coffee table and sipping wine. It was nice to be able to relax. She had the house to herself for the evening; Aunt Vi was on a date, and Delilah was staying at her dad's overnight, leaving Robyn alone with her thoughts.
She'd fully intended to retire. After the bad operation in Venezuela, when so many lives were lost, she could no longer live with the game. The CIA had never been known for probity; on the contrary, the company dealt in dishonesty. Any integrity they might have had in the past was gone. When Robyn first joined, she'd been full of idealism and the desire to make a difference. It had given her skills and direction, and for that, she was grateful. Disillusionment was a slow poison, though, and Venezuela was the final straw in the decision that had been a long time coming.
Now she found herself abruptly out of retirement, but this time she was working for herself and helping people in trouble who needed someone on their side.
Maybe she could do some real good, for people with nowhere to turn.
