Monica stared at the unexpected presence. "What's Phoebe doing asleep on our couch," she asked.
Rachel glanced up from her magazine. "She came stumbling in, saying something about sleep-deprivation. Then she threw herself down, and conked out. She's been asleep ever since."
Phoebe mffed and hrmmred a little, shifting. Then she made a drowsy announcement: "Sometimes, when you scream into the abyss, the abyss screams back."
"Uh..." Rachel gawked at her. "Okay. What does that mean?"
"It means that the abyss wants to be left alone," she answered, before erupting into snores.
"Leave it to Phoebe to get existential and weird even in her sleep," Monica muttered.
