Title: 'Solve For X'
Fandom: Inuyasha
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Rating: G
Word Count: 286
Characters/Pairings: Inuyasha, Kagome
Warnings: None
Summary: She was working too hard.
"Huh. Well, that's not surprising," Inuyasha muttered.
He knelt just inside Kagome's bedroom window, watching her. She'd fallen asleep at her desk, surrounded by books and pieces of paper. One of the books had inadvertently been turned into a pillow, her head resting on it. A cup of tea sat nearby, half-drunk and neglected; snack wrappers were strewn all over the desk. In one hand, fingers limp from fatigue, she held one of those funny writing implements; a pencil, she'd once called it.
She was working too hard. Wasting her energies, when she had other priorities that she should focus on.
Curious, Inuyasha plucked up one of the books from Kagome's desk. He thumbed through it, his head tilting. A mélange of letters and numbers and lines cluttered the pages.
"'Solve for X'," he read, snorting. He tossed the confusing tome over his shoulder, hearing it softly thump onto Kagome's bed. "Whatever that means." Maybe it made sense to Kagome, but it was all a jumble of gibberish, as far as Inuyasha was concerned.
He leaned over Kagome, reading what he could of the book that was pillowing her head. It looked like a history book. Strangely, it named countries and people he'd never heard of, and the years were named in a weird manner. Something about some guy named Franz getting killed in a place called Sarajevo in a year the book insisted was 1914.
No wonder Kagome was always so stressed, if she had to clutter up her brain with such things.
Inuyasha snarled at the book in mild contempt. "What the hell does she need all this junk for," he wondered. "Not like it's gonna help her track down any jewel shards."
