Summary: Twilight was used to worrying about the fate of the world, and now he also worries about the fate of his strange little family.

Twilight didn't know if he was ever going to get used to family life. He'd gone from being a bachelor living on a knife-edge every day to a committed husband and father literally overnight. Not only that, he was still taking on extra jobs from the agency on top of Operation Strix, so now he had to balance his duties as a family man with those of a spy with utmost care, lest the whole ruse come crumbling down.

While he knew he was an excellent spy, he was still somewhat dreading the day when Loid Forger's spurious excuses would finally stop fooling his “wife” and his identity would be exposed. What would he do with Yor then, silence her? He honestly didn't know if he had it in him. What about Anya? Though he was only pretending to be her father for the mission, he didn't even dare to think about what would happen to her if he wasn't there.

Twilight sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, pausing for a moment before the door of his home. He didn't have much time to let his mind wonder lately, but when he did it would mostly be spent catastrophising about the worst case scenarios should he fail his mission. It seemed that having a family had just made him more stressed, he had no idea how normal people coped with it.

The doorknob turned with a click, and before he'd fully opened the door, a cheerful voice rushed to meet him, “Papa’s home!”

A small, pink hairball threw herself into his arms, closely followed by a much larger, white furball that crashed into them both.

“Anya! Bond!” Yor rounded the corner in a hurry, still holding a soapy, wet plate in her hands.

“It’s alright, Yor.” Loid bent down and lifted Anya into his arms, patting Bond’s shaggy head in the process.

“Papa! Hungry!” Anya whined as she hugged his neck, “Don’t let mama cook!”

Loid turned to Yor with a quizzical expression, and she sheepishly explained, “I thought I’d help out by starting dinner before you came home, but—ah… It turned out to not be such a good idea.”

That explained the slightly burnt smell he’d been detecting since he stepped inside. Loid gave her an amiable smile as he put Anya down and walked to the kitchen, “In that case, I better get started.”

Once her feet were back on the floor, Anya rushed back to the TV to continue watching cartoons.

“Shouldn’t you be doing homework?” Loid called out as he began preparing dinner.

A loud, dramatic groan came from the living room, making Yor laugh. She walked to the coffee table and began clearing the space, gently coaxing Anya, “Come on, I’ll help you while dinner is ready, that way you can watch Spy Wars when it comes on later.”

With Anya convinced, the two sat together by the coffee table and began tackling her homework. Even the dog joined them, though his contribution just served as more of a distraction.

Loid continued preparing dinner, half paying attention to the process and half watching the living room, a soft smile unconsciously lifting the corners of his lips.
