Summary: Sarah sees Jareth calling for her.

She sighed and rubbed her eyes. She leaned back against her chair, stretching and trying to pop those muscles that had not moved in hours. She picked up her coffee, began sipping, and almost sputtered it all over her keyboard.

For there, in her computer's display face, was the strikingly face of none other than the King of Goblins himself. The very man who haunted her thoughts and memories every time Sarah dared to close her eyes was suddenly right there on her screen. A shiver went through her, and her heart froze in her throat. His bright, blue and green eyes were turning this way and that, as though he was searching for some one, and his rich, full lips parted, calling out a name.

Calling out her name.

"Jareth? Jareth, I'm here!" She leaned forward and tried to touch his face. All her fingers could find, however, was the hard, cool screen of her monitor, and in the next second, as always, he was gone.

He was not very often that she saw him, and it was even rarer when she knew that it was not merely a figment of his imagination. Every now and again, she would spot an owl at the park or thought she saw a Goblin scurrying in the shadows of alleys. These moments were always heartbreakingly fugacious, never lasting for more than a few heartbeats of a moment at a time. When was the last time she had actually seen his face?

Every time she closed her eyes. Every time she dreamed, rather they were pleasant, wonderful dreams of the love she would gladly proclaim if ever given another chance or nightmares of what had happened and what more may have happened to him, to all the wonderful creatures in the labyrinth, and even to the labyrinth itself since had left them all behind. Since she had had to leave them all behind, all for Toby.

Sarah sat down her coffee with trembling hands as she tried to focus past her pain to actually remember. When had she actually last seen his striking visage and knew it was he himself and not some torment of her mind or trick caused by the medications she had been forced to take for so long? When she had defeated him. When she had hurt him. When she had denied him and doomed them both. Sarah cried.

The End
