Title: Adventure
Fandom: Tangled
Author: Apache Firecat
Rating: G/K
Word Count: 300
Characters/Pairings: Rapunzel, Pascal
Warnings: Pre-movie
Summary: There's an adventure coming.
Rapunzel leaned against the buttress, surveying the outside forest. From here, she had an even better overlook of the forest than from her window, where she could only see whatever dared to venture out from the trees, but from up here, there were actual spots in the forest where she could see movement. She could see a family of deer grazing in a meadow while a mother bear struggled to catch flopping fish in a nearby river.
She sighed. Oh, what she wouldn't do to get out into the forest and actually have an adventure herself! Those animal families both looked like they were just exploring their normal, daily routines. In truth, they probably were, even as the bear was slapped in her face by a particularly powerfully struggling fish, pulling a laugh from Rapunzel. Still, even just having a family of her own seemed an adventure at this point in her life. Finding a mate, being parents, having children -- Was there more to adventure, to life, than that?
She slapped her book shut. Of course there was! When she finally got out of this tower, she wasn't going to waste time on a man! She was going to find her own identity. "What?" she asked Pascal, who seemed to be laughing at her.
She dangled him, for a moment, from his tail, but he just changed colors, withdrew his tail from her grasp, and ran up her arm. He wasn't going to tell her everything that he knew, all that he had seen from the families in the forest and beyond. Time enough would teach her that every person, every being, eventually found a mate and settled down. Rapunzel was certainly going to be a feisty one, though, when her Prince finally came! He looked forward to the adventure.
