[Challenge #90: Muditā] The Monkees: 'A Generous Attitude'
Title: 'A Generous Attitude'
Fandom: The Monkees
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Rating: G
Word Count: 147
Characters/Pairings: Peter Tork, Davy Jones
Warnings: None
Summary: "You're not disappointed, then?"
"That sure was a letdown, not acing that audition today," Davy sighed, drowning his sorrows in pop.
Peter patted him on the shoulder. "Don't feel so down about it, David. The band who beat us was really groovy. I'm happy that they were so successful."
Davy gazed at him, mildly befuddled. "You're not disappointed, then?"
"What would be the use in that? We may not have made the grade today, but we might, next time around."
"You're an odd chap, then."
Gently, Peter smiled, as he fetched himself a cup to make some tea. "There's nothing odd about practicing Muditā: I'd rather spend my time in this universe being happy that others are happy, for the sake of their happiness, instead of being sad about it, on my own behalf."
"That's a generous attitude to life," Davy murmured. "I wish I had the willpower to share it."
