Summary: Cheren is a little older, now. And, he hopes, a little wiser.

Once upon a time, fairly recently, Cheren had thought that he'd had everything all figured out. He'd convinced himself that, through his intensive studies, he'd come to understand what it took to be a good trainer. He'd read up on every detail, and taken it all to heart.

But, in the course of his personal Pokémon journey, the truth had pressed itself close. The constant pursuit of strength, in theory, had seemed sufficient.

That was, however, strictly in theory. In practice, strength proved to be not even close to enough.

Strength, as he came to learn, could only be useless, without the heart to know how best to put that strength to good use. It was a lesson learned the hard way.

Cheren is a little older, now. And, he hopes, a little wiser. Wise enough, perhaps, to teach, to guide others who are taking those first steps that he once took, with Pokémon of their own. Cheren wants to teach the next generation that a didactic approach to training won't take anyone as far as they want to go.

He can't let himself forget the mistakes that he once made. He'll do his best to make sure that others won't slip up the way he once did.
