See the old house that rests far on yonder hill:
It fascinates me, but my knowledge is nil.
What secrets would it tell, if words it could speak:
Of dispiteous inhabitants devouring the weak?
Were murders committed within its dreary halls;
Did some poor soul from its top balcony fall?
Do ghosts haunt its chambers so dusty and dire...
Is it true that the owner set his wife afire?
Does a foul monster in its dank old cellar creep,
Or do vampires lure maidens to a deadly sleep?
Do lamps sans power gleam with a sickly glow...
Or am I overimaginative? I guess that is so!
