Summary: Though he'd had Zekrom take him far from Unova, it felt as though he was still there.
N lay back in the grass, staring up at the clouds. They drifted across the sky, so careless and free.
So much lighter than the weight that was pressing on N's heart. Though he'd had Zekrom take him far from Unova, it felt as though he was still there. At least mentally. For his thoughts would not stop floating back to Unova.
To Ghetsis.
Ghetsis had never been one for redamancy. N couldn't pull out of his maze of thoughts a single memory where he'd received affection from Ghetsis. It had always seemed that he was too busy. Working day and night for Team Plasma and their cause.
Cause. What kind of justifiable cause, N wondered, could turn out to cause so much pain? N had always thought it was right, to separate Pokémon from their Trainers. Now, he knew better. Knew the sorrow that he had helped to cause. The truth behind the lies that he'd been led to swallow.
A noise caught N's attention, intruding on his unpleasant reveries. Zekrom was watching him anxiously, before looking back in the direction from which they'd come. The meaning was clear enough, even without N's ability to understand.
"I know," he murmured. "You're right, Zekrom. I'll have to go back to Unova eventually, and face what I've done."
But not just yet. Not while his memories and thoughts still flitted around haphazardly in his mind. He needed time to organize it all.
