#087 Paucity - Good Omens - Ominously Empty Spaces
Title: Ominously Empty Spaces
Author: Cat Moon
Fandom: Good Omens
Rating: G
Words: 252
Characters: Crowley
Summary: Crowley knows there's something going on, something important he needs to figure out. Everything might depend on it, and he's not quitting.
Notes: Takes place post-S2.
Some fans write their theories as meta. Others write fanfic about them. I like exploring lots of different ideas (that's why I'm a writer). This is just one that intrigues me a lot that I haven't yet turned it into a 'real' fic but wanted to write down.
Crowley wasn't sure why his memory wipe didn't work as advertised. At first, he'd had a paucity of information, but slowly, with diligent work, regained a lot. How much was a question that didn't have an answer. You don't know what you don't know, after all.
Seeing Aziraphale in the garden brought back a lot, although he didn't want to examine that too closely…not in all the previous millennia and definitely not now.
It was interesting how heaven's representatives kept expecting Crowley to know them, since they were well aware that he shouldn't. Good job he'd gotten into the habit of denying it to everyone who insisted he knew them (he'd never even admitted to Aziraphale that he remembered him from Before). Obviously, heaven was testing him, ensuring his knowledge hadn't returned.
This was tricky; he sensed a big puzzle piece was still missing. Something they were desperate to make sure he never remembered. Perhaps something Crowley had discovered before falling that might even have contributed to his being cast out.
Crowley's instincts were telling him he was on the right track. It wouldn't be easy or pleasant, but he had to figure out what was in the empty shadows where furniture should be.
Let There Be Light.
If Crowley could reclaim what was missing, maybe he'd have a weapon against heaven and hell, a bargaining tool for his and Aziraphale's safety and freedom, and hopefully a way to stop Armageddon 2.0.
Maybe he'd find a way to get his angel back.
The end?
