“Remind me what the point of planning a surprise party for someone who can see the future is?” Grant asks, stealing a french fry out of Joey’s basket.
“Because she’s our sister and we love her,” Joey replies, swiping an onion ring in turn. “Besides, she can predict when someone is about to punch her, not entire events almost three weeks in advance. It’s battle precognition.”
“Whatever, it’s still freaky.”
“You're just jealous.”
“Very.”
Joey sighs. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to—”
He freezes mid-sign, and Grant follows his line of sight… directly to Rose, situated on the rooftop across from theirs and wielding a pair of binoculars to spy on their attempt at a private conversation.
She even waves, just to rub her victory in their faces.
Who needs clairvoyance to predict something when eavesdropping works just fine?
“...shit.”
“I told you we should’ve had this conversation at the Tower!” Joey snaps, movements quick and expression frantic. “But no, you always have to be stubborn!
“I’d rather my face remain unpunched— your friends don’t like me, in case you’ve forgotten!”
A sharp whistle pulls their eyes back over to Rose.
“I actually prefer chocolate cake, for the record,” she signs.
